Since 1979 ZC&R Coatings for Optics has been a recognized leader in providing quality optical thin films to a wide variety of industries including architectural, entertainment, displays, medical, military, semiconductor, aerospace, and telecommunications. Our state-of-the-art 22,000 square foot facility, located in Torrance, California, was designed and built specifically for thin film production.

ZC&R maintains an experienced engineering group working hand in hand with our customers and production staff to develop and manufacture coating solutions.

Work is performed in a variety of areas including Class 1000 and 10,000 Cleanrooms. Depositions are produced in a series of custom designed vacuum coating chambers. Coatings are precisely monitored using a combination of optical and crystal quartz monitoring techniques. Ion assisted deposition is a key component in producing durable high performance coatings. ZC&R has the experience and ability to work with substrate sizes ranging from .1 inches to 29.5 inches in diameter. ZC&R has twelve custom manufactured vacuum systems in total; sizes are 32", 36", 48" and 64" in diameter.

For 25 years ZC&R has developed and deposited precision coatings for the United States Government and major prime contractors utilizing state of the art equipment and experienced personnel. This same commitment to quality has enabled us to supply coatings for the international space station and other high profile aerospace programs.

ZC&R only uses NIST traceable calibrated equipment including spectrophotometers, resistivity probes, and environmental test equipment.

Our computer controlled scribe system allows us to cut standard and custom shapes from coated sheet glass. These in-house capabilities result in reduced lead-time for our customers.

Pre- and post-process inspections are an integral part of ZC&R. Feedback from our quality control inspectors allows us to ensure quality products are provided to our customers. ZC&R's processes and internal quality assurance program are certified to meet the requirements of both the ISO 9002 and Aerospace 9000 international standards.

Coating design knowledge along with precision test and coating equipment enables ZC&R to supply coatings from 200 nanometers to 20 microns, UV to far infrared. High power laser coatings are available at 1.064, 1.54, and 1.57 um. Coatings also include antireflection, beamsplitters, hot and cold mirrors, metal coatings, dielectrics, covert and semi-covert filters, fluorescence filters, ITO and index matched ITO, heat and color control, bandpass color control, and thin film polarizers.
