Computer independence is a key advantage of the VXI platform, and a wide range of solutions are available from many different sources. To provide complete VXI subsystems, VXI Technology offers a broad array of VXI slot 0 interfaces and controllers. Alternatives include external computer control via Firewire (IEEE-1394), PCI (MXI-2), GPIB, and RS232, or powerful embedded computers (Pentium or Power PC). This flexibility can address applications ranging from laboratory installations to portable field installations.
